This is Tinnitus
When it comes to finding ways to treat your tinnitus, one of the most important things you can ever learn is what tinnitus actually is. Once you get a better understanding of what tinnitus is, you can better prepare yourself to fight it and lessen your symptoms of tinnitus.
Most folk simply suffer in silence and have no clue what tinnitus really means to you.
Tinnitus is defined as experiencing ringing, buzzing, or other noises or sounds without the presence of an external cause. In certain instances others may hear the noises. In the majority of cases however only the person experiencing tinnitus will be able to hear the noises.
The condition can manifest in one or both ears. Whilst tinnitus is almost known as a ringing in the ears, there can be many other noises heard as well:
• Humming
• Buzzing
• Swishing
• Running water
• High Pitched Whining Sounds and more
Often a amalgamation of some or many of the noises detailed are heard.
It’s also important to know that there are different types of tinnitus. Some people are locked into believing that there is only one kind of tinnitus and that if their symptoms don’t fall into this category, it must not be tinnitus.
Here are examples and basic descriptions of the types:
Tonal tinnitus- in this type, you experience a constant sound such as a single note being played over and over. This is often called “ringing in the ears.”
Pulsatile tinnitus- When you experience tinnitus that pulses in time with your heart beat, this is referred to as pulsatile tinnitus.
Subjective tinnitus- this is where only the patient can hear the noises.
One also can experience multiple other tinnitus sounds such as beeping, cicada like noises, water flowing and more.
Any and all of these sounds and symptoms could be tinnitus so don’t feel locked into one specific definition of what tinnitus is. It’s this type of close-minded thinking that holds people back in finding the treatment they need and deserve.
