Perhaps you have heard of the tradition of passing around your faceted wedding ring for your wedding guests to bless just before the ceremony?

The members of your community know stuff with regards to marital life that you will need to know. This is part of the reason that you invite them to participate in your service and to offer you their support. You may look at a marriage partnerships and think, “wow, that’s not the married life for me.” But if they’ve been making it work for a long time, even if it’s not a relationship you want to create, chances are they know something on the subject of being married & staying married which you could hear & even grow from. The rings you are about to put on your hand represent the wedding vows into which you are committing to live. Asking a blessing from individuals and couples will only enrich your being married.

After the ceremony, you may want to ask your company to write down what they wished or prayed for you. Or, moving into the late last century, you can ask them to tell the video camera. I am somewhat prejudiced toward the physical nature of the notes, however. And I know from years of experience that people look at their wishes again and again. It can be wonderful to have those “good vibes” to reflect on later, but sometimes it’s just enough to have the thought put into the rings. This little service can transform not only your wedding service but also your reception.
